Patriarch Alexy II plans to visit Cuba in 2007.

Moscow, November 3, 2006 - Construction of a church by the Russian Orthodox Church in Havana may be close to finishing next year, said the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Alexy II in Moscow on Friday after meeting the head of the National Assembly of People's Power of Cuba, Ricardo Alarcon de Quesada.

"In connection with the upcoming consecration and the opening of this church in honor of the Kazan Icon of the Holy Mother, the head of the National Assembly has invited me to visit Cuba. With thanks I have accepted his invitation," said the Patriarch.

Bidding the Cuban guest farewell, Alexy II said he hoped that they meet again in Russia and Cuba.
